It makes the world of difference to have a live project to learn anything. Imagine trying to learn to cook by just reading recipe books! For me, getting onto the social media bandwagon meant getting my teeth into a blog for my work. After about 60 hours of intense learning and trials and tests, I was able to create one called Volunteer News for St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra Goulburn, my employer. Being a charity, it was a really easy decision to donate my time. But I am also gaining many rewards. In a nutshell, I’ve trained about 600 volunteers since January last year and I want to keep the conversation going with them. Yesterday was the big day when I got the nod from the power that be for it to go live. We did so with the the post below, which was broadcast on the Vinnies Twitter feed and Facebook page.
